Anyone on here overhauled a water pump? I don't see instructions in the XR bible

Open up
Replace all with new parts
Close
Fill up with coolant
Ride
That's overhauling in general. What's wrong with the pump?

Re: Water pump rebuild
Just in case anyone was wondering - The impeller loosens the conventional way - Anti-clockwise

Re: Water pump rebuild
Run Evans coolant and oversized radiators. If stop and go traffic add a fan and a high output stator.

There is no traffic on the pavements

Re: Water pump rebuild
Aurora,
Running Evans coolant is a bad idea in any performance engine simply because this stuff only has some 75% of the heat-transfer capacity of water, and this means your engine will run hotter.... hence it is no surprise it is not sold outside the US

Chris my bru,
when do I get my tools back?????
And don't forget the braai either!!
(For the English chaps out there, a 'braai' is a SA-n barbeque - which Sean will refer to as Barbie but that word makes me horny for some silly reason )

I sold them on ebay - Just kidding, I have them here unused. I am trying to buy my own from XR650R.co.uk but Paul's email appears to be broken - Tried quite a few times already....
