Hey guys, just picked up a 2000 XR650R that had some small issues including a very rigged together and almost non functioning electrical system. I decided to take on wiring up and doing my on DSK using pieces that were on the bike as well as some I am going to buy. I planned on buying a 200w ricky stator DC kit and starting from there and after much research I ended up drawing up a schematic using all the available info I could find.

This bike will be used on the road as I have (luckily) a NYS Title for it. My only concern is getting the supply side of the system right, after that its easy.

If anyone could review and make suggestions on my diagram I would greatly appreciate it. I plan on adding in the rest of the components to make a very easy to read schematic.

Looks good what about a fuse across the battery to stator ?, also I would drop your fuse down to 10amps before the switch...?
I guess you could put a double pole hidden switch and take the wire from the pulse generator through this, as it stands your bike could be nicked even with your hidden switch turned off BRP smile just means they would have no electrics lol

Good point on the fuse, ill add that in. I planned on doing a key switch for the ignition side to supplement the hidden DC side switch that ill integrate into the kill switch wires at the handle bars. I will also make sure to carry a nice cable lock in my bag to deter anyone with sticky fingers and carry comprehensive insurance to at least get the value of the bike restored if it was stolen. I have the complete diagram drawn up and will post an as built of it when I complete the project.

I plan on running an 8" Trailtech race light with conversion provided by a user on Advrider to enable me to use dual beam H4 bulbs as well. Was excited to find that piece.

Would be great to see your full scheme, I only run the stock US loom over here in the UK but I like the bad boy loom as people seem amazed how little electrical items you need to get through a UK MOT test....rules are if fitted they must work...no lights fitted no problem. I just rig up a buzzer to the kill switch and remove the headlight and tape up the rear light....passes every year BRP smile

The 'hidden switch' is definitely NOT going to prevent anyone to start it....... just saying, I presume you know this?

I will most certainly do that. I have it finished but im going to wait until the bikes done so I can edit it to reflect what I actually installed and all that.

You presume correct. I need a way to shut the DC side down and I cant find a dual circuit key switch to use for both AC and DC power. I will end up either hooking up a key switch between the coil and CDI box and try to tuck it away somewhere or just carry a cable lock in my back pack and run it thru the front and rear rotors.
