older pig owner

hi fellow piggy-lovers! i recently lumbered myself with a very worn 2000xr650r. being really observant i noticed that the starter-button was missing! no sweat, i can buy one and get this thing going. oh no, the starting motor was also gone! well, i spent several weeks kicking that nasty lever high up on the right side. then, one bright shiny day i got it going! it rattles and shakes like a pre-war (2 I think) rudge i used to run, but boy its got enough power for me, (my 250yammy supermoto sucks compared with this beast!) so, i,ve done teached my arthritic (77 yr old ) knee to comence this thing, and grin a lot when using that very ad uecate mid-range torque,(us ex-limeys like to speak french once in a while) to pass startled old ladies in their shebbys! I ride baja every spring for 2 weeks (have done since 84 ) i'm looking forward to next april so i can get into a bit of mischief down there ( till my knee gives out!) t (i would put a baja designs starter kit on it but they are scarcer than a good 'woody', so i'll keep on kicking) triker

thanks mauser, i'm contemplating doing a valve job on the beast , i can feel the compression leaking while jumping up and down on the comencer lever! this is my 200+ bike since 1951, but only my second honda. i cut my teeth on old ariels, nsu s, bsa, nortons, triumph etc none of which had a 'sissy' magic button! my ultra-light even has a magic button! honda coulda thrown a starter on this thing for nickles! yeah, i know it starts ok, but if you stall it in traffic watch out! triker (but you are right, i do like it!)
