RIP 04 XR650R

Its was a sad day when the o4 blew was out much coin , had to do some thing so l found a 03 xr
l have done much since l bought and have checked out the new too me bike

l have used many components from the 04 to make the 03 what l need
l used the new seat from seat California , used the fenders and it came with new ufo side panels
it had nice bars and riser keep that on bike
had the usually repairs to the swing area axle adjuster seized bolt and water in swing arm, had to drill out , worked out ok
Bought a digal temp gauge , new thermostat , check water pump , the original thermostat was broken and locked in full open , l used the carb from the 04 as the 03 had a broken spring on the flapper for the choke

the front forks and most of the frame on the bike when l bought it ,had black paint is this normal ??!!

l'm of need of a rear tire it came with 120 /100 - 18 , will looks for some thing to replace the worn out one what last the longest ??!! mileage wise

the bike came with a pro circuit pipe and muffler smaller diameter then the big mouth l had on the 04 model , l left it on , the carbs were uncorked on both bikes and my 03 had 175 mains my 04 had 178 mains and correct pilots , l used the 04 carb as the anti back fire flapper had a broken spring
lt also came with a different stator and regulator not sure if its just ac or both ac/ dc , no battery or compastor , the coils on the the stator has full coils unlike the 03 original unit
lt came with a a different head lamp got it working connection broke , l sort like the original but better lighting
lt came with fat rental bars and lift and different hand guards

l will change the front forks l don't like the flat black on the lower forks will use items from the parts bike 04
will change hand gribs as well , like the black originals as well , will install a case saver for 15 tooth transmission gear my other case saver was for 14 tooth transmission sprocket

All propper offroad tyres wear fast on normal roads , if you want longlasting tyres try some dualsport tyres , like the TKC80 or http://www.reifenwerk-heidenau.de/modules/reifenliste/view.php?point=5&rtyp=17&profil=101&pic=107 ,

l like off road tire but wish for a harder compound , thanks for the link

l installed new belly pan from honda , new chain guides from Honda , its too bad it 's cold in the great white north was going to take out for a spin too cold here today
l also installed a new trail tech temperature senor and gauge . haven't much left to doo on this xr before getting it dirty
