What is needed apart from a battery to add a battery to a BRP?

You'll need a regulator/rectifier such as this if you plan on charging from the XR stator:

TrailTech

A quick google search will probably find more.

Somewhere decent to fit the battery would help to start with along rectifier to change from stock AC to DC to charge the battery....if you have a UK/EU/AU bike it will have 1 of these by default behind the headlight, if yours is US version like mine it only has about 4 wires for the whole loom.....love mine so simple....but no battery

I am using an 8ah, spade terminal, UPS/Alarm battery with a four wire rect/reg mounted behind my headlight on a US XR.  I filled one of my tail packs with aerosol insulation foam and seated my battery in that.  Slides in an out easily for charging or changing.  I ran separate +/- to the headlight shell from the rear fender. I also made impressions in the foam to hold some sockets and other small tools.

With the battery installed charge is somewhere north of 14V depending on rpm.
