BM,
backfiring has zero to do with the plug's gap, re-set it to the correct gap.
Backfiring is normal up to some extent, even if you have a perfectly sealed exhaust - but I bet yours leaks a bit of air, probably at the header/muffler connection. If that bothers you a thin smear if silicon probably will cure it.

Ok Guys, I called the Vapor Tech hot line and they told me how to reset the temp sensor which somehow it's not on the manual, like this: the left and the mode buttom hold it down for around 7 seconds, this will tell the temp sensor to read for a temp. now it is working fine, I have 90 max and 100 danger but in hot days it will go up to 116 or even 126 on stop and go traffic, when I am moving it will go down to 80, is this normal temp for this bike? no I don't have a fan, I am thinking to get one.
Bike is running like a charm so far, I don't like the noise of a knocking a bit louder than normal on the engine, does this bike should knock a bit or nothing at all?
I just passed my M2 today now wait for next year to do my M and get over with it.
Have a nice summer guys!

BM,
knocking? Is that your correct 'best descriptive' word? And you do not mean pinging/detonation?
Neither is good, get a 2nd opinion - I won't say this engine is quiet, but knocking it shouldn't do.
90 & 100 sounds like Celcius - that's a bit cool but OK, you can go up to ~115 depending on your radiator cap's pressure, and pushing it to 120. Anything above that and you better get some wind through the rads, or shut it down - but that will take longer.
Your standard thermostat opens at 82.5C, and XR-Only's at 80C - and the latter therefore will give you a marginally better thermal reserve, a bit more leeway. If you buy XR's make sure you drill a small hole (3mm) in the rim, I don't trust that tiny nick for bleeding air from the system.
But sort that 'knocking' out first, doesn't sound right (no, no pun)?

BURP if you give an email account I can forward a small video with the noise of the engine running, or may be I can load it to a you tube account and send the link to it? Just now came from a ride and when it is running and air is going through the rad it goes 87 Celcius but I got a red light by the time it changed to green already was on the 107 degrees mark then it went down to 87 again with the wind. I guess I will need the small fan to help out on those red lights.
I will try to do the video on the weekend.
Thanks,
IBM

No worries BM,
PM me with your email-addy - don't put it here, you will surprise yourself by the amount of spam you'll get.... hey, maybe you need Viagra?
A video will not really help (unless it is a MAJOR sound), you need the real ears from someone who knows engines. Any reasonable mechanic BM, I'd get a 2nd opinion, but a live one.
Fan: the Spal 4" puller is a good one. I've made a bracket for it and have the dxf-file for lasercutting out of Aluminium (or steel if you prefer). After profiling it needs 2 bends on a brake > finished! Fits like a glove. If you want to turn the fan 90-degs sideways you need to file a minute notch away, that's all (this will allow you to route the cable better/shorter). Anyone who wants it can pm me with an email-addy where I can send to. The file will open with Autocad or a dxf-viewer, and any lasercutter will know what to do with it.
Oh, the fan will not fit with a 27L IMS, know it. But a 4" computer fan may fit the same bracket (mine do), and is a lower profile - so change to such a (very cheap, probably also not so reliable) fan if you've got a huuuge tank.
Nope, no foto's yet of this bracket. It fits to the 3 tabs on the RH-rad, it is light & strong (due to the bends), and it hardly blocks the airflow (it's got airholes). The fan fits with 3 screws, and washers allow you to space the fan so that it just sits against the rad.
Focker ma Bru, is there a way I can post a dxf here??? But then I'm thick with this kinda stuff, maybe you can - can I send you it?
